Amelia (She/her)
I serve as the Senior Manager of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter and bring fifteen years of nonprofit experience, including roles at Rush University Medical Center and the University of Chicago. I am an alum of Augustana College and Texas Woman’s University, and I was honored to be a Baumhart Scholar at Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business. I am currently a PhD student at Antioch University’s Graduate School of Leadership and Change, where I focus my studies on Neurosociology and Social Justice Change Management. My research explores relational-cultural theory, narrative methodology in community engagement, and critical racial consciousness in the workplace.
In addition to my full-time role, I serve as a Studio Experience Manager at Half Moon Yoga in Chicago’s South Loop. While I am not currently teaching, I hold certifications in 200HR and 300HR yoga teacher training, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, and Yoga for Anxiety.
I am also the author of “Revisioning Scientific Methodologies and Epistemologies with Feminism and Indigenous Understandings” and co-author of two published works: “Fundraiser Bill of Rights - Creating Equitable Partnerships and Office Culture and Wellbeing: Why Hiring Diverse Candidates is Not Step One.” As a first-generation college student, the daughter of an immigrant, and a descendant of a strong and determined lineage of women, I carry what I learned from my parents with deep pride and gratitude.
